Govt derailing Constitution, introducing unIslamic laws, says JUI-F chief
BATTAGRAM: JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has alleged that the government is derailing the Constitution by introducing new laws that were contradictory to the Islamic laws and principles.
He expressed these views while addressing the Sha’ar-i-Islam (Tenets of Islam) conference organised on Sunday.
The JUI-F central, provincial, divisional, and district-level leadership and party workers from around the district and division participated in the conference held at the Kuzabanda area of Battagram district.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman, during his speech, said that no one could distance people from JUI-F, saying their struggle was for safeguarding the Islamic principles in the country.
“JUI-F will lead the country and bring a revolution. Presently, some forces from within the country and outside are trying to derail the Islamic Constitution and dismantle it; we will safeguard it as my father was one of the architects of the constitution. We got this country in the name of Islam, but for the past 75 years, the establishment and political leaders have violated Islamic principles.”
Recently, a law was introduced barring males and females marriages fewer than 18 year age; Musharaf had done the same in the name of Huqooq-i-Niswan (women’s rights), he added.
He said legitimate right to nikah is being discouraged and made difficult, alleging the government is encouraging illegitimate relationships through this law.
In the parliament, he said, under Allah Almighty’s ninety-nine names, instead of seeking blessings they were inviting His wrath.
“No one can be allowed to go against Islamic Sharia; this constitution does not allow us to introduce such un-Islamic laws. Our government wants to dismantle Pakhtoon traditions and uproot the Islamic foundations.”
In 2018, he said, elections had been rigged; in 2024 too, elections were rigged, and they didn’t accept the results as fake governments with fake mandates cannot run the state rather they were there only for corruption and looting public money. “We will not allow them to continue with such a system,” he added.
He asked the establishment to accept people’s mandate, saying the establishment was behind Fata merger, which was a wrong decision; they opposed it, while Fata people also rejected it.
Now, again, the government has formed a committee that has been mandated to determine how to restore the jirga system in Fata, he added.
In Fata, they abolished two articles and enforced hundreds of other articles, which were not accepted by the residents of Fata. He warned the government not to annex Fata through such legislation, as India did in Kashmir through abolishing Article 370.
About Palestine, he said, 60,000 people have been martyred, which includes mostly women and children, but Israel is continuously bombing innocent people, and the West has turned a blind eye and deaf ear to the genocide in Gaza.
He said if Mr. Trump wants to get nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, he first needs to stop the Gaza genocide, adding when Pakistan attacked India and punished it, Mr. Trump reached out to rescue Modi, and he did the same when Iran punished Israel.
“Today, Trump wants to bring all under the Ibrahim Accord, but we must remember that against Communism through such tactics the US brought Muslims closer, and then it attacked them; Ibrahim Accord is only to defeat China, as it has become world economic power. He is not a friend of Muslims,” he added.
He said they started the struggle from Karachi, and continued to educate the public about injustices in Pakistan, warning the government not compel them to gather at Islamabad.
