ACE to be made autonomous

BAHAWALPUR, May 12: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) will be made an autonomous body and the chief minister has agreed to the proposal.

This was stated by ACE director-general Brig Aslam Ghumman (retired) at a press conference here on Thursday.

He said the act of 1985 would be amended to give autonomy to the ACE. The process would be completed in two months and the draft would be sent to the law department for whetting.

He said a number of steps have already been taken to make the ACE a friendly organisation to redress the grievances of affected people and minimise corruption among the government officials.

Brig Ghumman said despite the facilities and incentives provided to the department’s officials by the government, better results could not be achieved so far. However, their performance has significantly improved.p
