LAKKI MARWAT, May 12: PML-N provincial president and former NWFP chief minister Pir Sabir Shah has said that the country is passing through a critical juncture as a group of people headed by President Gen Pervez Musharraf is trying to westernise the country through so-called enlightened moderation.

“The rulers are destroying the social, moral and Islamic values and the cultural heritage of the country to appease their US bosses and prolong their unconstitutional rule” Mr Shah said, while addressing a workers’ convention in the municipal park here on Thursday.

Central senior vice-president Saranjam Khan, MPA Anwar Kamal Khan Marwat, Senator Mehtab Ahmad Khan, ex-provincial minister Abdul Subhan, district president Shafiullah Khan Begukhel and others also addressed the convention.

Sabir Shah urged party workers to forge unity for the struggle against President Musharraf and pave the way for return of Mian Nawaz Sharif to the country.

The leaders exiled by President Musharraf had the capability to solve the problems and steer the country out of crises, he said.

Mr Shah also criticised the government for military action in Waziristan and Balochistan.
