SWABI, May 12: District Deputy Nazim Saeed Zada and union nazims on Friday called upon Interior Minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao to stop what they called meddling in the affairs of the district government.
Speaking at a press conference here on Friday, 20 union nazims and women councillors alleged that Mr Sherpao was bent upon defaming the district government through agencies.
They said that Mr Sherpao was a seasoned politician and they had great respect for him. For this reason, they said, they had chosen to keep quiet but now the minister had ‘crossed all limits’.
They said that the PPP (Sherpao) and Awami National Party had already entered into an electoral alliance for the next general elections. They said that the alliance was against the district nazim and wanted to destroy his political career. But they vowed that they would foil the designs of the alliance.
“Mr Sherpao has given a special task to the agencies to disgrace the district government and the district nazim,” according to the nazims.
They said that in 2003 when Mr Sherpao was federal minister for water and power he had pledged Rs20 million for power supply projects in different parts of the district, but that amount had not been provided. “The people of the district are well aware of Mr Sherpao’s tactics,” they added.
