TAXILA: Two women were killed while 26 others were injured in two different incidents in Hazro and Taxila Police station limits on Wednesday, police sources said.

In the first incident, one woman on board was killed while 25 others injured when a Karachi-bound passenger bus coming from Peshawar turned turtle on Islamabad-Peshawar motorway (M-1) near Ghazi interchange in the limits of Hazro Police station on Wednesday.

Rescue 1122 officials dispatched four ambulances and a rescue vehicle to the scene immediately after being notified.

The injured and dead were shifted to tehsil headquarters hospital in Hassanabdal. Motorway Police have registered a case and attributed the incident to excessive speed combined with wet road conditions. A thorough investigation is underway to determine the full causes of the accident.

Separately, a woman was gunned down and her husband was critically injured as three persons riding on a motorcycle showered bullets over them in a broad daylight incident on Faisal Shaheed road in the limits of Taxila Police station.

Police sources said that Amir Shahzad contracted love marriage with Iqra Bibi, against the will of her parents, after fleeing from home. The couple was returning from local court after appearing in their case in the local court.
