Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has met with Iranian envoy Moghadam, according to a statement by the Office of Senate Chairman.

Gilani said, “I am pleased that a ceasefire has been established between Iran and Israel. We commend the leadership, armed forces, and people of Iran for their defence efforts, during this difficult time.”

He continued, “I am confident that Iran, with its effective strategy, strength, courage, and resilience, will soon recover.”

“We pray for peace, prosperity and development of the region,” he said, offering condolences for the senior Iranian military officers, nuclear scientists, and innocent civilians who were killed in the Israeli attacks.

Senate chairman also highlighted the need for high-level exchanges, enhanced defence cooperation, and economic ties with Iran to strengthen bilateral relations.
