Oil prices have sunk more than 5 per cent after Iran attacked a US military base in neighbouring Qatar, in retaliation for US weekend strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, AFP reports.

Around 1745 GMT (10:45pm PKT), futures for West Texas Intermediate fell 5.3pc to $69.96 a barrel, while Brent oil futures fell by similar amounts.
