BAJAUR: District administration on Sunday sealed 18 stone crushing plants for operating without approval of the relevant departments.
The action against the outlets located in Sheikh Kallay area of Khar tehsil was taken by a joint team of the district administration and industries department on the special directives of Deputy Commissioner Shahid Ali Khan, says a statement.
The statement issued from deputy commissioner’s office said that the team led by Khar subdivision Assistant Commissioner Dr Sadiq Ali and Additional Assistant Commissioner Kaleem Jan and assistant director industries, sealed the plants after they were found operating without following the government’s environmental regulations and standard operating procedure ( SOPs), meant to keep the environment clean and healthy.
The statement added that besides violating provincial government rules and regulations, the visiting team during the inspection also found some outlets operating without any legal documents.
The statement said that the authorities had repeatedly directed the owners of the stone crushing plants to strictly follow the provincial government’s environmental regulations, but they failed to follow the directives, which prompted the officials to shut down their plants as a penalty.
The statement said, the outlets would remain sealed until their owners/ management completed the required documents as per the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa power Crusher Act, 2020.
Suicide bid: Another teenager allegedly attempted to take his life by consuming a poisonous medicine and was hospitalised after being found unconscious in Khar tehsil.
Riaz Ahmad Khan, Media Coordinator of Rescue 1122 Khar station, told reporters that the incident occurred in the Muslim Bagh area, where an 18-year-old Hamza Khan, son of Jamil Khan, consumed poisonous medicine for unknown reasons.
He said that a Rescue 1122 medical team was immediately dispatched to the area after receiving the information about the incident and shifted the victim to the district headquarters hospital for treatment.
The rescue official said the teenager was referred to a hospital in Peshawar for latest treatment, though his condition was stated to be stable.
It may be mentioned that a teenager purportedly had taken his life by consuming poison tablets in Salarzai tehsil here the other day.
