LAHORE, May 11: The Women’s Action Forum (WAF) on Thursday condemned killing of Atwar Bahjat, the 30-year-old Iraqi woman journalist and TV reporter, by an Iraqi terror group recently.

“Those who slit her throat and eventually beheaded her must be condemned in the strongest possible terms. Those who videotaped the murder are equally deplorable,” it said.

The WAF demands urgent withdrawal of US-UK coalition occupation forces from Iraq and their replacement with UN peace-keeping forces along with an entity to oversee reconstruction, rehabilitation and human security for all Iraqis.

“The WAF extends solidarity, sympathy and condolences to the family and friends of Ms Atwar Bahjat. Though the pain cannot be mitigated through words, it is an attempt to express solidarity with the bereaved family and friends.”
