BYC workers continue their hunger strike in Turbat

GWADAR: The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) workers continued their hunger strike in Turbat for a second consecutive day on Friday, protesting the alleged “illegal detention” of their leaders including, Dr Mahrang Baloch.

The BYC members have set up a hunger strike camp in front of Turbat Press Club where large numbers of people, including leaders of various political parties, members of civil society and activists of human rights visited them, expressing their solidarity.

Kech Bar Association President Abdul Majeed Shah, human rights activist Waja Asa Zafar, ‘Turbat Guzar Dost’ convener Manzoor Baloch, Haji Abdul Aziz Baloch, Riaz Ahmed and Advocate Abdul Majeed Dashti also joined the hunger strike camp and extended their full support.

The BYC members criticised the government for extending the detention of their leaders for an indefinite period and said that if this process continued the anxiety among people and political circles will increase.

They demanded immediate release of Dr Baloch, Bebo Baloch, Gulzadi, Sabghatullah Shah Jee, Mama Ghaffar and former chairman of Baloch Student Organisation Imran Baloch.

They warned of extending their protest across the province if their demands were not fulfilled, asking the human rights organisations to take notice of this “injustice”.
