Four women murdered in three incidents

OKARA: Four women were murdered in three incidents reported in the district on Monday.

In the first incident, two cousins Sidra and Shumaila, of village Kharl Kalan, were staying at their home after returning from Lahore where they worked as domestic help. On Monday afternoon, Muhammad Bukhsh and Muhammad Ahmad allegedly entered the house of Jafar, brother of the complainant, and accused the women of having affairs.

When Shumaila confronted them, the two suspects allegedly opened fire, killing both Sidra and Shumaila and fled.

On the complaint of Muhammad Amin, uncle of the deceased, Hujra Shah Muqeem police registered a case under sections 302, 311, and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

Police arrested both suspects along with the weapons used in the crime.

In the second incident, Shahzad told police that he was walking through a street in Muzaffar Colony along with witnesses named in the FIR, when they heard cries for help coming from a nearby house. Upon entering, they found Faizan, the husband of the victim, and two unidentified accomplices strangling a woman named Insha, who died on the spot.

Saddar police registered a case under Section 302 PPC against Faizan and two unidentified co-accused on Shahzad’s complaint.

In the third incident, a woman was killed over a property dispute, police said.

According to the FIR, Zahran Bibi, a widow and mother of four, was residing at her home in village Mohri Wala in the jurisdiction of Mandi Ahmadabad police. She was allegedly facing threats from her brother-in-law Younis who wanted to take possession of her house.

On the night of the incident, she was staying at the house of another brother-in-law, Khalid, when Younis along with Ashiq and others allegedly attacked her with a sharp-edged toka (axe-like tool), killing her on the spot.

Mandi Ahmadabad police registered a murder case under Section 302 PPC on the complaint of Zahran’s brother Amir.

Police arrested Ashiq, while raids were underway to arrest the remaining suspects.
