CHAKWAL: Seven people, including three siblings, were killed in two accidents in Talagang and Balkasar on Friday.

In the first accident, three siblings drowned in a mini dam in Gohil village of Talagang district.

According to officials, a woman along with her three children from Gohil village had gone to wash clothes on a mini dam built by the family on their land.

As she was washing clothes, her three children slipped into the dam.

The villagers rescued the children and rushed them to a hospital in nearby Noshehra village in Khushab district where the doctors pronounced them dead.

The siblings were identified as Fiza Asma, 12; Furqan Ali, 6; and Abeeha Noor, 4.

A pall of gloom descended over the small hamlet of Gohil as the tragedy shook the whole village.

Moving scenes were witnessed when the coffins of the siblings were taken out for burial in the evening.

Malik Nazar Hussain, the station house officer of the local police station, told Dawn that women go to mini dams to wash clothes due to the scarcity of water.

The water reservoirs have been built in the area by farmers to water their crops.

Road accident

In a separate accident, four friends were killed after their car hit a tree on the Lahore-Islamabad motorway, according to police.

Six friends were returning to Lahore from a trip to the northern areas when their car rammed into an eucalyptus tree near the Dharab Bridge and Balkasar Interchange.

According to police, four men died on the spot while two others were injured in the accident, which occurred around 11PM.

The personnel of Motorway Police, Rescue 1122 and Chakwal police moved the injured and dead bodies to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Kallar Kahar.

The deceased were identified as Raza Ali, 35; Atif Ahmed, 19; Siftullah, 24; and Ramzan Baloch, 30; all belonging to Larkana. The two injured men, Faheem and Irfan, were residents of Okara, Punjab and Shahdadpur, Sindh, respectively.
