ISLAMABAD: The city administration has established a joint control room within the Safe City system in collaboration with the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to ensure coordinated security and waste disposal arrangements during Eidul Adha.

The decision to set up the control room was made in a meeting presided over jointly by Chief Commissioner and CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi at the Islamabad Safe City Headquarters here on Friday, says a press release issued by the CDA.

The meeting was attended by CDA board members, the deputy commissioner, and representatives from Solid Waste Management, Islamabad administration, the District Management Authority (DMA), Islamabad Police, and relevant senior officers, who finalised a comprehensive action plan for security, traffic management, and cleanliness.

The CDA chairman said the Islamabad Safe City system played a pivotal role in not only the security but also governance of the capital. He stressed the need for enhanced inter-departmental coordination and collaboration, utilising Safe City cameras and modern technology to make Islamabad’s security, traffic, and sanitation systems more effective.

He directed all relevant institutions to play their roles diligently through effective coordination to provide the best possible facilities to citizens during Eidul Adha.

Senior officials of the Islamabad Police gave a detailed briefing to the participants on the special security and traffic arrangements planned for the Eid.

Around 895 police personnel will be deployed across the capital city, and 2,500 sanitation workers will be stationed at various locations.

Besides this, special checking and monitoring arrangements, including checkpoints, have been set up at various locations throughout the city.

The CDA will distribute 200,000 biodegradable plastic bags door-to-door and at various points citywide. The Safe City cameras and drone cameras will monitor the city, and a helpline number (1334) and WhatsApp numbers will be available for citizens’ convenience.

Special security and traffic plans have also been devised for areas surrounding Shah Faisal Mosque, other mosques, central Imambargahs, public places, parks, commercial centers, and graveyards. The CDA chairman stated that special attention would also be paid to the cleanliness and security arrangements at graveyards.

The CDA administration has appealed to citizens to place sacrificial animal waste outside their homes for collection or inform the CDA helpline for assistance.

With these arrangements in place, the city administration is confident of providing citizens with a secure and pleasant experience during Eidul Adha. The joint efforts of various departments will ensure that the festivities are celebrated with peace and joy.
