PESHAWAR/MANSEHRA: The provincial general council of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) on Saturday decided to launch agitation against corruption, deteriorating security, minerals bill in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Child Marriage Restraint Act after Eidul Azha.

A statement said that council of the party met with JUI-F provincial emir Maulana Attuar Rehman while party’s chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman also attended the meeting. The office-bearers and lawmakers of the party also attended the meeting.

It said that the meeting was briefed about the KP government’s alleged corruption, sale of posts, Kohistan corruption scandal, agriculture tax and mines and mineral bills.

The meeting decided to launch agitation against corruption, security, minerals bill as well as Child Marriage Restraint Act after Eidul Azha. In this connection, first public meeting will be held on June 29 in Battagram.

The meeting termed the proposed mineral bill usurpation of province’s rights. It said that allocation of Rs80 million for Lahore High Court Bar Association was injustice to the people of KP.

In Mansehra, JUI-F deputy provincial emir Syed Haydaitullah Shah said on Saturday that his party was committed to enforcement of Sharia through a democratic and peaceful struggle.

“We are reorganising JUI-F in all 194 villages and neighbourhood councils in the district,” he told general council meeting of the party.

He urged party workers to remain active in their respective village and neighbourhood councils and to spread the message of party chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

“We have stood firm against all odds since the creation of Pakistan, and we will continue to do so under the visionary leadership of Maulana Fazlur Rehman in our quest for Shariah implementation,” he said.

The party’s general secretary, Maulana Nasir Mehmood, said that members of the party’s Shura would visit village and neighbourhood councils to supervise reorganisation efforts.

“For the first time, we have devolved power to grassroots level to mobilise people during times of political agitations and elections,” he said. He added JUI-F workers were campaigning to invite more people to join the party.
