Balochistan targets industry advancement, transparency

QUETTA: Senator Danesh Kumar Palyani called for making industrial estates functional in Balochistan on Friday as officials signed agreements aimed at boosting economic development and government transparency.

Mr Kumar emphasised the need to provide facilities for the Bostan and other industrial estates during a high-level meeting of the Balochistan Board of Investment and Trade(BBOiT), where officials discussed ongoing investment projects and sustainable economic development strategies.

“The BBOiT has demonstrated remarkable commitment in creating an investor-friendly environment in the province,” Mr Kumar said. “I am deeply encouraged by the progress and assure my full support for initiatives that aim to transform Balochistan into a hub of economic opportunity.”

The meeting included Vice Chairman Bilal Khan Kakar, Finance Secretary Imran Zarkoon, BBOiT CEO Abdul Kabeer Zarkoon, and former deputy speaker Sardar Babar Khan Musakhail.

Mr Kakar briefed Senator Kumar on current projects, key investor engagements and upcoming plans for promoting public-private partnerships.

“We are focused on unlocking Balochistan’s economic potential by encouraging both domestic and foreign investment,” Mr Kakar said.

MoU signed

Separately on Friday, the Balochistan Information Commission and Transparency International Pakistan signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in promoting access to information, transparency and accountability.

The ceremony was attended by Balochistan Infor­mation Secretary Imran Khan and Director General Public Relations Noor Khateran. Commissioner Abdul Shakoor Khan signed for the Balochistan Information Commission while Executive Director Kashif Sheikh signed for Transparency International Pakistan.

Under the agreement, both institutions will collaborate in information dissemination, awareness campaigns, training workshops and policy development, utilising each other’s experience and resources to foster transparent governance and ensure public access to constitutional information rights.
