KARACHI: A woman drowned in the swimming pool of a hut at Hawkesbay on Sunday, police said.
According to Mauripur SHO Chaudhry Saleem, the victim, Nayyer Sultana, 56, had come to Hawkesbay for a picnic with her family and was staying at a luxury beach hut.
While their children went to the beach, Ms Sultana and her husband remained indoors, the SHO said, adding that it appeared she slipped and fell into the swimming pool when her husband was away.
The family took her to a nearby hospital in Manora, where doctors declared her dead.
Later, the body was shifted to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.
Driver runs over cousin sleeping underneath trailer
The driver of a trailer accidentally ran over and killed his cousin in the Keamari area on Sunday afternoon, according to police and rescue services officials.
They said that Ilyas, 30, was asleep under the trailer when its driver started the vehicle without realising someone was sleeping underneath. The man died on the spot.
The incident took place near Bilal Godown in the Jungle Shah area within the remit of the Jackson police station.
The body was shifted to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.
The police claimed to have arrested the driver and impounded the vehicle.
On May 4, another trailer driver ran over and killed his co-driver who was sleeping underneath the heavy vehicle in the Keamari area within the remit of the same Jackson police station.
