Digital rights expert, Nighat Dad, has advised the public to remain cautious of misinformation spreading online amid Pak-India tensions, the Associated Press of Pakistan reports.
Speaking to the media, she urged the public to rely on verified statements from government officials only and discouraged them from sharing unverified information online.
Dad advised the public to always cross-check information with trusted sources before sharing it, encouraging them to be aware of the potential impact of sharing unverified information.
She added that “fake news is a significant issue in geopolitical contexts, where misinformation can have far-reaching consequences.”
