KASUR: Phoolnagar police on Thursday registered a case against at least 30 villagers and arrested around two dozens of them for allegedly vandalising a toll plaza and manhandling the staff at Dina Nath on Multan Road.
According to police sources, the incident began when toll plaza employees exchanged harsh words with the driver of a factory bus who had failed to stop at the designated point. As workers became anxious due to delay, a female factory worker reportedly intervened. An employee allegedly slapped the woman during the confrontation.
Upon hearing of the incident, villagers allegedly attacked the toll plaza staff and vandalised the site, damaging cabins.
The protesters later blocked the road, disrupting traffic and demanded action against the toll plaza staff.
They also called for the removal of what they claimed was an “illegal” toll plaza, citing frequent incidents of staff misbehaviour with commuters.
Following negotiations with the local administration, the villagers dispersed peacefully after blocking the road for several hours.
However, the situation took another turn when police filed charges against at least 30 unidentified villagers for arson, road blockage and damage to public property. Police claimed they had already arrested more than two dozen suspects and that further raids were underway.
