SWABI: The Swabi police have been put on alert with security of sensitive police stations enhanced in the wake of the terrorist attack on the Jhanda police post here on Wednesday night.

District police officer Mohammad Azhar told Dawn that he along with senior police officers visited various checkpoints and reviewed security arrangements there.

The officials also visited Jhanda police post, where a terrorist attack was repulsed on Wednesday night. They lauded the cops’ spirit and hard work in repelling the attack.

“Your presence and readiness are the guarantee of maintaining law and order and protecting citizens’ life,” DPO Azhar said while praising the personnel.

“In the current situation, any negligence will be intolerable, and all the personnel should perform their duties with full responsibility and professional dedication,” he said.

The visiting police officials also emphasised that serving the public was the primary duty of the police, so good manners, courtesy and gentleness should be shown to the citizens during checking so that the relationship of trust between the police and the people was further strengthened.

They asked the personnel to wear helmets, bulletproof jackets and take other precautionary measures.

The senior police officers inspected functioning of the CCTV cameras, perimeter walls and security arrangements at the police post.

ANP PLANS MPC: Awami National Party leaders said on Friday a multiparty conference on the draft Mines and Minerals Act, 2025 will be held here on May 14.

The decision came at a meeting of the ANP working committee. It was decided that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s ministers, MNAs and MPAs would also be invited to the MPC.

The meeting was presided over by ANP district president Asifur Rehman.

ANP former provincial general secretary Salim Khan Advocate, district general secretary Nawabzada, district president of Malgary Wakilan Mohammad Rashid Advocate, office-bearers from the four tehsils and member of the party’s central council Mohammad Ayaz Khan were also in attendance.

“ANP has made it clear that people of the province should have the foremost right over their resources,” Salim Khan said.

Nawabzada said they hoped leaders all political and religious parties, business community, intellectuals, members of civil society and youth leaders would grace the MPC.
