TOBA TEK SINGH: Two policemen were seriously injured allegedly when scores of residents of Mouza Thatha Bhareri village of Faisalabad attacked a police party and set free two proclaimed offenders (PO) on Thursday.

Police say that a team conducted a raid in the village to arrest two POs -- Bahawal and Shahid Ali, allegedly involved in dozens of animal thefts and robberies.

As the police arrested both POs, scores of men and women belonging to the tribe of Bahawal attacked the policemen with bricks and damaged their official vehicle.

The attackers snatched both POs from the police.

In the attack, ASI Munawar Khan and Constable Akbar were left injured and shifted to Faisalabad DHQ hospital.

Till the filing of this report, police were searching the area to rearrest the two POs and the attackers.

ARRESTED: Faisalabad FIA circle arrested on Thursday a PO from Haripur, KP, who was allegedly involved in illegal currency exchange and money transaction (hawala, hundi).

A press release says, the accused, Amer Manzoor, was declared PO in 2024.

It adds that more than Rs10 million (Pakistani currency), 8,000 Turkish Lira and 8,000 Afghanis were recovered from the PO.

Previously, the accused had also been booked by the FIA’s banking crimes circles of Islamabad and Sargodha.

Raids are being conducted to arrest his accomplices.

TWO DIE: A brick kiln worker and another man died on Thursday in two wall-collapse incidents in Faisalabad and Toba, respectively.

As per police sources, a worker, identified as Anwar (40) of Chak 255 RB, was sitting near a wall at a brick kilnin Roshan Wala locality of Faisalabad when it collapsed on him. He died instantly.

His body was retrieved by locals after removing the debris and handed over to his family.

In the other incident, one Khurram Abbas (35) died and Imtiaz Ali (30) injured when a wallof a house collapsed on them at Mouza Bhooti located near Arrouti in Pirmahal tehsil on Thursday.

The injured man was shifted to Pirmahal THQ Hospital in a critical condition.

ACCIDENT: A rickshaw driver died and three others were injured in a head-on collision between a wheat-laden tractor-trolley and a motorcycle-rickshaw near M-3 motorway interchange on Shorkot Cantonment Road at Pirmahal on Thursday.

As per police, the deceased rickshaw driver was identified asAli Muawiyah (23), while the injured as Ahmad Zahoor (18), Saqib Ali (28) and Ibrahim (20).

The injured men were shifted to Pirmahal THQ Hospital. The accident took place because of the speeding.
