SWABI/DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Police repulsed a terrorist attack on Jhanda police station in Swabi district on Wednesday night.

Police said that terrorists targeted the post, situated at edge of mountainous region of Gadoon Amazai, in the blanket of night. However, the attack was repulsed by police.

However, police officers did not reply when repeatedly contacted by telephone and WhatsApp to seek details of the attack. The attack panicked people in the area.

On Thursday, Awami National Party said that attack on police post by terrorists should be investigated and details should be shared with people.

“We are the followers of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, guided by his noble philosophy of non-violence. We will not allow terrorists to harm peace in our district in any circumstances,” said former provincial general secretary of ANP Advocate Salim Khan.

Similarly, former caretaker provincial minister Miraj Hamayun and Bushra Gohar, a leader of National Democratic Movement, in their separate press statements also demanded inquiry into the incident.

In Dera Ismail Khan, police repulsed a terrorist attack on Daraban police station on Tuesday night.

A police spokesman said that no casualties were reported in the attack. He said that the attack was responded by Daraban police with courage and professionalism. He said that an intense exchange of fire took place between attackers and police personnel, which continued for over an hour.

He said that after receiving the alert, additional police force was immediately dispatched to the area. He said that owing to swift and decisive response of police, terrorists were forced to flee.
