HYDERABAD, May 4: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has said that without community participation it is not possible for any government to carry out development projects and provide proper service to people.

He said the establishment of citizen’s community boards by the federal government was a step in the right direction.

He said the district government would extend its full cooperation to boards in this regard.

He was distributing the first instalments of cheques among different CCBs for various development projects.

Hyderabad DCO Sharif Awan was also present on the occasion.

Kanwar Jamil said it had become very difficult for the government to resolve problems of the people due to limited resources.

He said that this was a step in the right direction as without community participation, it had almost become impossible to provide services to people in an effective manner.

He claimed that honest and conscientious people had been inducted in CCBs.

He said that in order to ensure proper and judicious utilization of government funds, a district monitoring committee had also been constituted to oversee the pace of work and quality of projects.

EDO (community development) Shahid Zubedi said that in every UC, ten CCBs could be registered and an amount of Rs14.5 million could be spent on CCBs approved projects.

He said that 80 per cent funds would be provided by the district government while CCBs would be required to arrange remaining 20 per cent.

He said that first instalment of 33 per cent was being given to CCBs.
