TOBA TEK SINGH: The five-day Central Asia Handball Women’s Trophy 2025 concluded at Government College University Faisalabad on Sunday.

The tournament, organised in collaboration with the International Handball Federation and Pakistan Handball Federation, brought together Under-17 and Under-19 women’s teams from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Mongolia and Pakistan.

Uzbekistan secured first position, Turkmenistan second, and Pakistan took third place.

Vice Chancellor Dr Rauf-i-Azam, RPO Sheikhupura Athar Ismail, President of the Pakistan Olympic Association Syed Muhammad Abid Qadri, SSP Operations Faisalabad Dr Amara Shirazi, MPA Arif Mehmood Gill, Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Nasir Ameen, and President of the Pakistan Handball Federation Muhammad Shafiq were present at the closing ceremony.

SUICIDE: A 24-year-old man died by suicide in Gojra’s Chak 244 GB Khurd on Sunday.

Police said Muhammad Zahid consumed poison following a quarrel with his parents over financial issues. He was shifted to Gojra THQ Hospital where he expired.

Separately, a youth died after being struck by a train near Kabootran Wala graveyard in Gojra.

Police said he was crossing the railway track when he failed to notice the approaching Karachi–Lahore bound Shah Hussain Express and was killed on the spot.

FIRE: A farmer’s 20-acre wheat crop and a rented harvester machine were destroyed in a fire that broke out late Saturday night in Gojra’s Chak 333 JB.

According to reports, sparks from the harvester’s engine caused the fire, resulting in significant losses for farmer Akhtar.
