Pakistan Gold Cup main event at LRC today

LAHORE: The Pakistan Gold Cup, the country’s longest-distance race, features prominently in a seven-race card drawn for the 35th Lahore Winter Meeting being held here on Sunday.

The 2,800-metre Pakistan Gold Cup race contains a tiny field of four horses which includes three past winners of Pakistan Derby – Pakistani Star (2023), Jim And Tonic (2024) and Sardar (2025). Therefore, a keen contest is expected in this race.

The supporting event, the Native Tune Cup, for Class VI horses over 1,100 metres has eight runners which too looks like a close contest to be enjoyed by race fans.

In view of the extremely hot weather persisting in Lahore, the races are being held at night with the first race set to start at 7:00pm.
