PESHAWAR, May 3: The city police chief has asked all police stations in the provincial capital to form peace committees in their respective areas, says an official statement issued here on Wednesday.
The step would bridge the gao between police and people and play an important role in resolving old disputes, it added.
The committees would solve petty disputes without police interference. It would help avoid litigation, the police chief said.
The 22 police stations in the city have been given 15 days to recommend names of 20 to 25 respectable people from their areas for the committees.—Correspondent
