Retired SP arrested in kidnapping case

ISLAMABAD: A retired superintendent of Islamabad police was arrested in connection with a kidnapping of a man over a money dispute, police said.

The retired police officer was arrested by the Aabpara police in connection with a case registered under section 365 of PPC after the complaint submitted a supplementary statement nominating the SP and his son in the kidnapping case.

After the arrest, the retired SP was produced in the court of magistrate from where he was given in police custody on two days physical remand. Besides, a police team was also sent to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to trace the kidnapped victim.

In the supplementary statement, Mohammad Waqar told police that he was the complainant of a case No 248 registered under section 365 of PPC at Aabpara police station.

On March 15, his younger brother Hamza Khan left for the house of the SP at Mansehra and the SP in his earlier statement also admitted that he came to meet him. However, he has not returned so far, besides his whereabouts were also not known, he added in the statement, adding that on March 11, there was a scuffle between his brother and the SP along with his son at Chatha Bakhtawar.

The complainant suspected that the SP and his son abducted his brother and asked the police to nominate them in the FIR registered over the kidnapping and get Hamza Khan recovered.

Earlier, Waqar got a caseregistered on March 18.

According to the FIR, Hamza Khan left from the house on March 15, but did not return. The complainant and other family members searched him, but remained unsuccessful.

His mobile was switched on, but he was not attending calls.
