Chasing a somewhat stiff target of 270, the Pakistanis were bowled out for 235 at the start of the final over with Vikram Singh grabbing three for 33.
Vikram, who was adjudged Man-of-the-Match, put Pakistan ‘A’ in trouble from the start by sending back Yasir Hameed (1) and pinch-hitter Mansoor Amjad (4).
He later returned to get rid of Yasir Arafat for a four-ball duck.
Opener Taufiq Umar made 51 off 84 balls with five boundaries. But it was Bazid Khan who kept his team’s hopes alive with another fine innings.
Following his unbeaten 77 against Holland ‘A’ in the first match, Bazid once again was the top-scorer. This time he contributed 87 off 107 deliveries in a knock that was laced with four fours and two sixes.
Earlier India ‘A’ owed their total of 269 for six to half centuries from Robin Uthappa, Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma after skipper Venugopal Rao elected to bat first.
Uthappa and Dhawan launched the Indian innings in style by putting on exactly 100 in just over 16 overs with each scoring 52. Dhawan, the more aggressive partner, struck 11 fours in his 51-ball knock while Uthappa’s 61-ball innings contained six boundaries.
Sharma then stroked a 71-ball 62 with the aid of four fours and one six.
Sri Lanka ‘A’, meanwhile, survived a close before struggling to a two-wicket win over UAE on Thursday. The highlight of the match was provided by Khurram Khan, who hit 107 for the losers.
