Patients suffer as doctors’ continue strike

QUETTA, April 26: Patients suffered as doctors’ strike in government hospitals continued and private clinics were closed.

Doctors have vowed to continue their protest till the redressal of their grievances.

Representatives of the Balochistan chapter of the Pakistan Medical Association and senior doctors of the Civil Hospital and Bolan Medical Complex held a meeting on Wednesday and alleged that neither the government nor police officials seemed to be interested in solving their problems.

The meeting was held under PMA Balochistan’s president Dr Naeem Agha. Dr Arbab Ghulam Rasool, Dr Naqibullah, Dr Hamidullah and Dr Saleh also spoke.

They said that the government’s lukewarm response had forced them to boycott OPDs and operation theatres besides the closure of private hospitals, adding that they were left with no other option.

They said that the rising incidence of robberies and kidnappings aimed against doctors, adding that there had been a spate of attacks on doctors in hospitals, which had forced them to take extreme action.
