PESHAWAR, April 24: The Khyber Students Forum (KSF) on Monday appealed to the authorities to abolish the newly introduced system of centralised checking of examination papers at Peshawar University.
Students of Khyber Medical College, an affiliate of the university, held a peaceful demonstration at the KMC campus against external checking and demanded restoration of the old system.
“Students have suffered a lot on account of centralised checking this year and the number of students who failed in different subjects is much higher than in past years,” said Shahnawaz Yousafzai, the forum’s president.
The student protesters held placards against the system of centralised checking and submitted a memorandum to the vice-chancellor of Peshawar University, demanding restoration of the old system of internal checking.
They said that the new system of external checking was not acceptable to them. More students have failed different subjects and 19 students who have failed in different subjects once again this year will now lag behind one year.
Around 110 students out of 240 students of the third year have failed in different subjects because of external checking, they said.
