Seven dacoits lay down arms
SUKKUR: Seven hardened criminals wanted by police in several cases of heinous crimes, including kidnapping for ransom, encounter with police, robbery and murder, have laid down arms in the wake of ongoing joint operation against outlaws in crime-infested riverine area of Ghokti district, according to police.
A statement issued by DIG Sukkur’s office on Saturday said that the dacoits, who had terrorised large populations in riverine as well as settled areas in Ghotki district had finally surrendered peacefully by taking advantage the Sindh government’s offer of voluntary surrender.
Ghotki SSP Samiullah Soomro, along with members of other law enforcement agencies, under supervision of Sukkur Range DIG Captain (retired) Faisal Abdullah Chachar were conducting successful targeted operation with modern land and air technology and heavy weapons.
They managed to gain access to the riverine area infested with gangsters and eventually the operation forced the seven dacoits to surrender, said the statement.
It said the surrendering outlaws were identified as Mohammad Nawaz Samejo, Ghulam Murtaza Shar, Abdul Wahid Almani, Muharram Pitafi, Aijaz Mirani, Irfan Shar and Abdul Rahim Jhumro Solangi.
