Wedding meal lands 29 in hospital

FAISALABAD, April 23: As many as 29 participants of a marriage party, including women and children, were shifted to local hospitals on Sunday night due to ‘food poisoning’.

Reports said over 200 people had been invited to the marriage ceremony of Asad Ahmed in Steam Power Station Colony in the area of Nishatabad.

The guests were served with dinner boxes containing ‘stale’ fried chicken.

The condition of about four dozen guests started deteriorating after taking meals and 29 of them were immediately shifted to various local hospitalised.

Scare of bird flu created a panic like situation as some senior police and administration officials rushed to the spot and supervised the shifting of patients and their medical treatment.

The organisers told police that they had bought dinner boxes from a local bakery.
