UNRWA spokeswoman Juliette Touma has said the agency expected its financial situation to worsen, even before an expected decision by Trump to extend a funding ban on it, Al Jazeera reports.

“When and if the executive order is issued, we will be able to comment on that. Having said that, the financial health of UNRWA is very, very bad, and it got worse over the past few months and is expected to continue to worsen,” Touma said while speaking to reporters in Geneva.

Commenting on the Israeli military raids in the occupied West Bank, Touma warned that the Jenin refugee camp is heading in a “catastrophic direction”.

Large parts of the camp had been “destroyed in a series of detonations by the Israeli forces”, she said.
