KARACHI: Pakistan Television (PTV) pacer Israr Hussain’s hat-trick saw Ghani Glass bowled out for 238 runs on the opening day of the President Trophy’s fifth-round fixture here at the KCCA Stadium on Saturday.
In other matches, Oil and Gas Development Company’s (OGDCL) pacer Musa Khan registered a five-wicket haul against Eishal Associates, so did State Bank of Pakistan’s (SBP) Aftab Khan against Higher Education Commission (HEC).
In the match between Wapda and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL), the former’s Imran Dogar hit a century.
Israr’s hat-trick helped the bowler post figures of 7-72, and it came when Ghani Glass were 52-2. But half-centuries by Haseeb-ur-Rehman (88 off 125, 12 fours) and former Pakistan vice-captain Shadab Khan (55 off 73, five fours) took Ghani Glass to a decent total.
In turn, PTV had scored 130 runs for no loss at the close of play with Waqar Hussain (69 not out off 80, nine fours) and Mohammad Taha (38 not out off 59, four fours) on the crease.
At the UBL Sports Complex, Musa picked up 5-52 — his seventh first-class five-for — to restrict OGDCL to 187. In turn, Eshaal Associates were 110-4 in 34 overs, when stumps were drawn.
At the SBP Sports Complex, SBP’s Aftab ran riot with the ball picking up 5-24 to dismiss HEC for 126. Ali Hamza Wasim remained unbeaten for a 100-ball 57 hitting six fours for HEC.
In reply, SBP were reeling at 109-7 at close of play as HEC’s Waseem Akram picked up four wickets for 43 runs in 10 overs to help his team stage a comeback.
At the NBP Sports Complex, Wapda’s Imran Dogar struck 110 off 245 balls with the help of 15 fours and Mohammad Ammar contributed with a 96-ball 58 inclusive of seven fours and a six as the team finished the day with 285-5 on the board.
