LANDI KOTAL (Khyber Agency), April 20: The Khyber Agency political administration ordered release of six outlaws from three prisons on March 17 to get a kidnapped schoolboy freed.
Nauman, a class seven student of Government Middle School, Mawaz Khan Kalli, was kidnapped from Akakhel area in Bara on Dec 7, 2005, allegedly by Yaghistan Zakhakhel and Badeel Khan to force the administration to release their brothers from Peshawar Central Jail Peshawar and Kohat prison.
Yaghistan’s brother Mohammad Khan had been caught red-handed by the Khasadar force near the Speray dam while trying to kidnap a Malikdinkhel resident for ransom about two and a half years ago. The Bara administration had arrested Lal Baz, brother of Badeel Khan, also on charges of abducting a Darra Adamkhel resident some two years back.
Nauman’s father Shafeeq is a teacher in the school where he was studying and his uncle Khalid Abbas is superintendent of the Peshawar Central Prison. His captors were insisting on the release of their colleagues, the sources said.
They said Bakht Mir of the Khasadar force was killed when Yaghistan and his accomplices opened fire in Bara bazaar on Feb 5 during an attempt to arrest him.
The group is also allegedly involved in the kidnapping of a student, Gorajeet Singh, who was recovered by the administration after a secret deal. The Bara administration later arrested one Younus Khan for his involvement in the kidnapping. Younus was a close colleague of Yaghistan, the sources said.
Younus was released on March 17 with Mohammad Khan and Lal Baz, two days after Nauman had been freed and presented before the media at the Khyber House in Peshawar.
The Khyber Agency administration had contended that the boy had been recovered without paying ransom.
Jail officials said the release orders of Lal Baz, Mohammad Khan, Younus Khan, Saleem and two others had been issued by the Khyber Agency political administration despite the fact that they had been sentenced to 14-year imprisonment.
No official of the Khyber Agency political administration was available for comments. Nauman’s family denied any deal.
KIDNAPPED: Jabreel Khan, a class four student, was kidnapped on Thursday from Akakhel locality in Bara. The student’s relatives have charged Sarfaraz Zakhakhel in a report lodged with the local authorities.
Meanwhile, no clues have been found to the whereabouts of another schoolboy Mohammad Ali, who was kidnapped in July last year. The boy’s ailing mother lost her life a few months back.
The Bara Private Schools Association has demanded immediate recovery of the kidnapped boys and called for security for all school students.
