LAKKI MARWAT, April 19: The federal government has awarded the Kurrum Tangi dam project to the Frontier Works Organisation and asked it to begin work on the project immediately.

This was stated by district nazim Humayun Saifullah Khan while talking to a delegation of farmers here on Wednesday.

The nazim welcmed the decision and expressed the hope that the FWO would start construction work on the dam without any delay. He said that President Gen Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz were enthusiastic about construction of five major water reservoirs that would enable the country to cope with future water and energy needs.

“The Tangi dam will bring about a green revolution in the southern parts of the province besides generating surplus electricity ,” he said.

He said that he had made hectic efforts to convince President Musharraf to approve the project in the best interest of the people of the Frontier province.
