PESHAWAR, April 18: The capital police have strengthened security for the visit of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz to the city on Thursday. The prime minister is scheduled to attend a workers’ convention of the Pakistan Muslim League convention, says an official statement issued here on Tuesday.

According to a security plan approved by Capital City Police Officer Habibur Rehman, police will be deployed at markets, hotels and inns, and important public places and parks.

Plainclothesmen will assist the uniformed personnel.

Entry points will be cordoned and passengers will be searched to avert any untoward incident.

SEIZED: The Matani police have seized a large amount of foreign currency from three tribesmen of Miramshah.

Officials said a police team stopped a suspected car and found 95,000 counterfeit dollars, 41,291 riyals, 990 dirhams and 423 dinars in the vehicle.

Three people — Sharbat Ali, Baidar, and Jan Mohammad — were arrested.

The detained tribesmen told interrogators that they dealt in Hundi business.

Investigation is under way.
