HARIPUR, April 18: Javed Qureshi, provincial deputy general secretary of Alliance for Restoration of Democracy, has said that days of the anti-democratic rule are numbered and democracy will soon flourish in the country.

“The era of dictatorship in the garb of democracy is nearing end and a true political leadership will put the country on the road to progress and democracy,” he said while talking to newsmen at his office here on Tuesday.

Mr Qureshi, who is also general secretary of Pakistan Democratic Party, said that Pakistan had been established by leaders and workers who believed in democracy and rendered sacrifices for it, but unfortunately, undemocratic elements had been ruling the country.

He said that feudal lords, generals, capitalists and political turncoats were facilitating dictatorship in the country.

He conceded that some politicians collaborated with military rulers, causing harm to democratic institutions. However, he said, certain other factors were also responsible for the rise of undemocratic forces.
