21 denied bail in Urs attack case

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, April 17: An Anti-Terrorism Court here on Monday dismissed bail applications of 21 people accused of attacking and disrupting the Urs of a saint in the Shah Alam area.

The accused whose applications were dismissed included the naib amir of the outlawed Pakistan Sepah-i-Sahaba, Khalifa Abdul Qayyum Gandapur, and other activists. ATC Judge Ayub Khan, however, accepted the bail applications of 44 accused and ordered their release.

The police had arrested 78 people, who were charged with attacking and looting in the Kalu Qalandar fair last month.

Khalifa Gandapur, who is being kept in the Dera Central Jail, was also wanted by police in nine other cases.
