GUJAR KHAN:Over 475 Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) protesters who were arrested from Islamabad and Rawalpindi during the November 24 ‘final call’ have been shifted to Jhelum District Jail on judicial remand, sources said on Wednesday.

The PTI supporters were shifted to Jhelum jail from Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail.

Talking to Dawn, Superintendent of Jhelum DistrictJail, Syed Hassan Mujtaba said over 475 PTI workers have been shifted to Jhelum during the past three days, adding that a majority of them belonged to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Mr Mujtaba said Jhelum Jail had a capacity to host 588 inmates, while the strength of the inmates in the jail had reached 1,600. The jail superintendent said they were bringing to use all available resources to provide facilities to the prisoners despite facing difficulties as the original capacity of the jail had exceeded.
