PESHAWAR, April 13: An initial investigation into the recent Peshawar bombing has revealed that the bombing was an attempt to kill former parliamentarian Latif Afridi.
“The evidence gathered by the police in the last few days leads us to believe that the bombing was a case of enmity between two families,” said police sources, ruling out the possibility that the blast was an act of terrorism.
Police have also found out during the investigation that the motorbike used in the bomb blast in Khyber Bazaar was bought from a local auto-spare parts bargain shop a few days before the blast.
The bomb blast near Haroon Mansion had killed one policeman and left 16 others injured on March 28.
Police had formed two teams to investigate into the incident from different angles and had first connected the blast with terrorism but later a former MNA Latif Afridi claimed that his rivals had planted the bomb to kill him.
