PESHAWAR, April 10: The Pakistan Muslim League (N) said on Monday that its party chief Mian Nawaz Sharif would return to Pakistan this year and no force would be able to block his return.
The party’s provincial finance secretary Sher Azam Khan told a press conference here that Mr Sharif would never strike any deal with the government. “He would prefer staying out of power but would never compromise,” he said.
Mr Azam said the party’s central working committee would make a final decision about when their leader should return to Pakistan.
The PML-N also called for the immediate release of the party’s stalwarts Makhdoom Javed Hashmi and PML-N leader Khwaja Saad Rafiq and all other political leaders detained without any reason.
In the next three to four weeks, he said, important decisions will be made as prominent political leaders, including PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto, Nawaz Sharif, ANP’s Asfandyar Wali and MMA leaders, will soon be meeting in London.
He said the provincial leadership had called a meeting of executive council and district presidents on April 18 and 19 to formulate the party’s future strategy on vital matters, including Mr Sharif’s return.
The PML-N provincial leaders called upon the government to form an interim government acceptable to all political parties and hold fair, free and transparent general elections supervised by an independent election commission.
The PML-N information secretary urged the government to end the military operations in the tribal areas and Balochistan and find a political solution to the problems there.
