Indian CM congratulates Usha Vance as she is set to become first Indian-American second lady

N. Chandrababu Naidu, chief minister of India’s Andhra Pradesh state, has congratulated President-elect Donald Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, and his wife Usha Vance, who has roots in south India.

“His victory marks a historic moment, as Mrs. Usha Vance, who has roots in Andhra Pradesh, will become the first woman of Telugu heritage to serve as the Second Lady of the US,” Naidu said in a post on X.

“This is a moment of pride for the Telugu community around the world. I look forward to the opportunity to invite them to visit Andhra Pradesh,” he added.

According to CNN, Usha, a daughter of Indian immigrants, grew up in a suburb of San Diego and her family is Hindu. Her husband converted to Catholicism in 2019.
