OKARA, April 8: Defence Minister Rao Sikandar Iqbal has said the Punjab chief minister has approved Rs310 million funds for the Syedwala bridge at river Ravi which will connect the Okara and Sheikhupura district. This he said while speaking to a gathering at the TMA rest house in a luncheon hosted by Tehsil Nazim Rao Jamil Akhter in his honour here on Saturday.
The defence minister said that funds of further Rs310 million would be provided by the federal government for the completion of this project.
Besides, he said the government had also sanctioned 200 acres of land for the university campus at Okara.
MMA’S DEMAND: MMA central vice-president and Millat-i-Jafria chief Allama Sajid Hasain Naqvi has demanded the establishment of caretaker governments in the centre and all four provinces under the retired apex and high courts chief justices, respectively.
He said this while talking to journalists at the residence of Syed Abbas Hussain Safvi at Chak Muhammad Shah on Saturday.
Mr Naqvi said that the MMA might announce boycott of elections if these were held under Gen Pervez Musharraf.
