HARIPUR, April 7: District Nazim Yousaf Ayub Khan presented Rs939.56 million revised budget for the fiscal year 2005-6 on Friday. The district council session was presided over by convener Maj (retd) Safdar Zaman.

The district nazim said that of the total outlay, Rs75.83 million had been set aside for salaries and medical bills of 9,500 employees of devolved government departments while Rs75 million had been earmarked for non-salary expenditures.

He said that Rs181.21 million had been allocated for development projects while Rs14.33 million would be disbursed directly to the tehsil municipal administration of Haripur and TMA Ghazi out of funds earmarked under the Provincial Finance Commission Award in lieu of Haripur district’s octroi share.

The nazim said the district government was planning to sink 102 new tube-wells, complete CCB approved schemes, education reforms programme, finish 210-bed DHQ hospital besides lining of water courses during the current fiscal year.

He said that the size of development budget would be maintained at the size of budget approved for 2001/02.

He said that a new housing scheme on the pattern of Hayatabad township in Peshawar had been approved, adding that its PC-1 was being prepared by the Hazara Development Authority. He said that the district government had also approved an engineering university with an estimated cost of Rs21 billion. The nazim assured the house about equitable distribution of funds among local government members.
