Excise office scam

TOBA TEK SINGH, April 6: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) registered on Thursday a case against an assistant excise and taxation officer and other staffers for registering smuggled and stolen vehicles.

One of the accused, clerk Muhammad Shafiq, has been arrested. Israr Hussain Bawa of Bakhshi Park locality had complained to Faisalabad ACE Deputy Director against AEO Muhammad Aqeel, inspector Muhammad Farooq, clerk Shafiq and constable Abaidur Rehman for causing a loss to the department by registering smuggled and stolen vehicles.

The ACE registered the case under sections 420,468,471 of PPC and 5/2/47 of the Anti-Corruption Act against the accused when charges were proved in an inquiry.

Other accused are still at large.
