HYDERABAD, April 5: The Hyderabad Glass Bangle Mazdoor Ittehad Union has send that bangle workers have been deprived of all facilities permissible under the law. The general secretary of the union Sirajuddin Gadis said in a statement on Wednesday that despite complaints made to the authorities concerned no action had been taken to improve the working condition.

He regretted that the workers were neither given appointment letters nor attendance cards. They were denied causal, annual, medical and festival leave.

He said the union had approached the labour department, commissioner social security, Employees Old-age Benefit Institution, etc., but no action had been taken against the factory owners.

Mr Gadi pointed out that as there was no employment record of workers, therefore they were deprived of their pension, social security cover, group insurance, etc.

He called upon the authorities to implement labour laws in all the bangle factories with a view to protecting the rights of workers.
