KHAIRPUR, April 4: Sindh People’s Party Parliamentarians president Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that harassment and highhandedness by a provincial minister has crossed all limits in the district but no one is taking notice of his vindictive activities.
He was speaking at a press conference at the residence of PPP leader Samiullah Shah Rashdi here on Tuesday.
Qaim Ali Shah said that Rashdi brothers had displeased Sindh Minister Sadaruddin Shah by joining the PPP and playing an active role in last year’s local government elections.
He said that the government claims protection to chaddar and char deewari but boundary walls of Samiullah Shah’s Haveli as well as his brother Mehboob Shah’s residence were demolished.
He said that a small and separate state had been established in the Khairpur district which considered itself to be above the law.
He said that any order passed by a minister was illegal until it was supported by law.
He said that the DPO and the DCO played a partial role as they took demolishing boundary walls as their task.
He said that there was a high rate of unemployment and on the other hand the people earning their livelihood through small shops and pushcarts were being disturbed on the pretext of encroachment.
Former District Nazim Nafisa Shah said that some serious violations of human rights had been recorded in the Khairpur district.
She said that she would appeal to the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan and international organizations to conduct an inquiry into it.
