PESHAWAR, April 4: The Sarhad Awami Forestry Ittehad, a group comprising activists working for the past five years to protect forests in the province, will observe June 10 as a ‘black day’ to protest against what it called the draconian Forest Ordinance 2002.
The decision was taken at a meeting held here on Tuesday to elect office-bearers of the Ittehad.
The meeting elected Riaz Mohammad Khan as Ittehad’s president and Jamshed Khan as general secretary for one year.
Haji Abdul Karim was elected senior vice-president, Yar Mohammad Khan as vice-president and Mohammad Sadiq as secretary finance.
