KARACHI, April 4: The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed an appeal filed by an activist of the Muttahida Quami Movement against his conviction in a killing case. Nadir Shah, along with absconding co-accused Obaid alias Obaid K-2, was sentenced to life jail term with a fine of Rs1,00,000 by an anti- terrorism court in Karachi on May 15, 2002, for killing a Ranger personnel, Dildar Hussain.

Besides they were also awarded an aggregate 15 years rigorous imprisonment for injuring Mumtaz Ali and preventing the rangers from discharging their duty.

According to the prosecution, Nadir Shah, Miroo, Obaid alias K-2, Junaid alias K-2, Asif, Shakeel, Arshad, Rafiq alias Bullet, Sajid and Irfan attacked a mobile of the Sachal ranger in Liaquatabad on July 2, 1998, which resulted in the death of sepoy Dildar Hussain and injuries to Havildar Mumtaz Ali.—PPI
