KHAIRPUR, March 31: In-charge civil judge-IV and judicial magistrate Ashfaque Mughal on Friday sent three PPP leaders to the Khairpur central jail on judicial remand. The PPP leaders — Samiullah Shah Rashdi, Zaman Shah Rashdi and Amjad Shah Jilani — were arrested by the B-section police on Thursday.
People’s Lawyers Forum member Liaquat Shar and District Bar Association president Sher Mohammad Shaikh appeared on behalf of the leaders and requested for judicial remand.
PPP Sindh president Syed Qaim Ali Shah, former District Nazim Nafisa Shah and a large number of PPP activists were present on the occasion.
They raised slogans against the excesses of police and registration of case against PPP workers.
Talking to reporters, Syed Qaim Ali Shah condemned the arrest of party workers and said it was political victimization.
In-charge anti-encroachment cell Fazal Mohammad Bhatti had lodged an FIR under section 353, 324, 427, 337-F1, 148, 149 PPC with B-section police against 40 persons, including Samiullah Rashdi, Zaman Shah Rashdi, Amjad Shah Jilani, Gul Suhag, Allah Dad Phulpoto, councillor UC Shah Latif Mohammad Panah, Niaz, Asghar, Babul Makrani and others.
The complainant stated in the FIR that the accused attacked the anti-encroachment team and Taluka Nazim Tahir Imtiaz Phulpoto.
They also opened fire and hurled stones and sticks on official vehicle of the taluka nazim due to which the vehicle was damaged badly.
The PPP workers also took out a procession from the Jilani house here on Friday in protest against arrest of PPP leaders.
Former District Nazim Nafisa Shah led the protesters.
Mehboob Shah Rashdi, MPA Naeem Kharal, PPP ladies wing president Ghazala Siyal, Ali Sher Makjol of the People’s Lawyers Forum and Khursheed Dasti advocate participated in the rally.
